This is a Jane Austen community like no other! Well ok, that might be going a bit far. It's actually a lot like quite a few Jane Austen communities in that we do also want to discuss Jane Austen - her life, her times, her works, her letters, her humour, her talent, her wit, her wisdom etc etc. But one thing does make this community stand out from all of the others at the moment - we have pathetically few members. Yes, it's sad but the community is just starting. One day we plan to take over the known Jane Austen obsessed universe!!

If you love Jane Austen, or even if you just like her, please join and make us feel slightly less sad and pathetic by your company!! If you join within the next 5 minutes you'll go into the draw to meet Jane Austen (or someone dressed a bit like her)!! What are you waiting for? Join NOW!

This is a community for all Jane Austen-aholics, Jane Austen Obsessive Disorder sufferers and just people who really really like her and her novels, short stories, letters and scribbles. Ok fine, you don't even HAVE to like her to join. We're that desperate we will take anybody!! Post quotes, opinions, film reviews, icons, ask questions, create anagrams, make no sense, whatever you want - as long as it is Jane Austen related.

A snippet of Jane-ian wisdom:

An occasional memento of past folly, however painful, might not be without use.

A young man... so easily falls in love with a pretty girl for a few weeks, and when accident separates them, so easily forgets her.

She hoped to be wise and reasonable in time; but alas! she must confess to herself that she was not wise yet.

Think only on the past as its rememberance gives you pleasure.

Till this moment I never knew myself.

What have wealth and grandeur to do with happiness?

Once so much to each other! Now nothing!

There is nothing like employment, active, indispensable employment, for relieving sorrow.

I am convinced there is a vast deal of inconstancy in almost every human character.

There are few people whom I truly love, and still fewer of whom I think well. The more I see of the world, the more I am dissatisfied with it.
